Spring is typically a season of rebirth, of the end of winter hibernation, and unfortunately for our local food banks, a season of shortages. Our food banks receive a massive amount of donations during the month of December, but typically are running short on food in late March, which isn’t ideal for the many families in our community who have fallen on hard times and need the help. That is why JCI Kelowna has joined with JCI Penticton and JCI Vernon to create ValleyDrive.
This event combines fellowship and fun for a day of giving and raising awareness of the greater need for resources in our community. What we are doing is very simple, we will be outside of local grocery stores handing out a “Top 10” most needed items list to all shoppers entering the stores, then collecting any donations for delivery to the nearest food bank.
